What we offer

We run a six week domestic courses to teach you to train your dog to be a well-mannered member of your household.  You will learn how to teach your dog to come, heel, sit, down and stay.

Your dog will be able to socialise and train with other dogs and people in a safe and supportive environment. 

Dogs must be at least 3 months old and fully vaccinated.

What next - after the course

Once you have completed the course you can:

  • do another Domestic Obedience course, for half price

  • do the Beginners Agility Course if your dog is 12 months or older or

  • join the club and do the Puppy foundation class if your dog is 6 months to 12 months old

When

The courses are held at the club grounds Kidd Elliott Park, corner of Linwood and Kidd Roads, Te Hihi Wednesday 6.45pm.

10 January  – 14 February - Class now full

26 June – 31 July

No training in August

4 September – 9 October

30 October – 4 December

What to bring with you

  • A buckle collar or quick release collar 

  • A current vaccination certificate for your dog

  • Food to motivate your dog (small pieces of sausage, cheese or similar) or your dogs favourite toy

  • Don't bring... choke chains, or bitches in season.

  • Wear comfortable flat shoes suitable for outdoors

Do's and Don'ts

  • If your dog is unwell, leave him/her at home.

  • If you have a reactive or aggressive dog please let your instructor know before the class starts so we can manage this safely.

  • If your dog causes damage to another dog or person, it is your fault, and you are liable for any loss or damage incurred.

  • Bitches in season are not allowed to attend classes, please keep yours at home.

  • All dogs should be on a lead at all times, unless otherwise directed by your instructor.  

  • Please, no smoking, eating or drinking during training.

  • No dogs or smoking inside the club rooms.

  • Do not feed your dog before coming to training, the dog will be uncomfortable working on a full stomach. 

  • You may wish to give your dog a run before training to let off excess steam.  

  • Try to get your dog to go to the toilet before training.  However, if your dog does toilet please clean up and place in the bins provided.

How to enroll and pay

To enroll in this course complete the online enrollment form and pay the course fee . We will confirm your place in the class when we have received your payment. Numbers in this class are limited and we fill the class in the order people pay so please pay early to avoid disappointment.

The cost is $120 for the course. If you are a financial club member or are repeating the course the cost is $60.
